Profile: The Lake Okeechobee Real Estate Magazine is a monthly publication, published by the Okeechobee News the first of each month. Okeechobee County is centrally located in South Central Florida and is a growing county. The 1990 census gave Okeechobee County a population of 29,627 and the projected population for 2000 is 37,875. In the first six month of 1999, there were 84 new housing starts in Okeechobee. Many families from the coastal communities are making their homes in Okeechobee County, appreciating the quality of life here and the excellent school system.

This real estate magazine was started when the need for a quality real estate publication was noted by the Okeechobee News. From the first issue on, this has been the premier source of real estate information for Okeechobee County.

Our Purpose… The Lake Okeechobee Real Estate Magazine is published by Independent Newspapers of Delmarva. Independent is owned by a unique trust that enables this newspaper to pursue a mission of journalistic service to the citizens of the community. Since no dividends are paid, the company is able to thrive on profit margins below industry standards. All after-tax surpluses are reinvested in Independent’s mission of journalistic service, commitment to the ideals of the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, and support of the community’s deliberation of public issues.
